Part 1 — Wire the LED moduleSoldering, battery, and power switch

Prepare the wires

Trim the mode/power switch wire down to approx. 6 cm and strip the ends.

Find the 3 cm length of black/red wire and strip the ends.

Solder the wires on the module

From left to right, solder the battery connector (in-line socket), the black/red wires for the USB‑C charger, and the mode/power switch.

Wrap the LED panel around the insert

Align the battery cable with the hole at the base of the insert, and attach the panel with a piece of sticky tape.

Insert the battery cable into the hole and up into the centre of the insert.

Solder on the USB‑C connector

Thread the USB‑C power connector wire through the hole in the base, and solder on the USB‑C connector.

Glue the LED panel to the insert

Use a small amount of glue to stick the panel to the tube of the insert along its edge.

Use a little bit of hot glue to insulate and secure the soldered terminals.

Wrap the whole panel around

While the glue is hot at the bottom, wrap the rest of the LED panel around and glue it along its edge.

Push the USB‑C port in and glue it

Wait for it to cool and solidify.

Don't overdo the glue Too much hot glue can melt the PLA plastic. PETG would resist the heat better — but it's a bit late for that now!

Place the mode/power button and glue it

Again, glue in the button — but don't go crazy with the hot glue. Use a bit and let it cool down.

Attach your battery to the connector

Solder the battery connector cable to the battery carefully.

Check polarity Observe the polarity — red is positive (+), black is negative (–).

first power-on

Connect the battery and test it

Connect the battery to the inline socket — the LEDs should light up! Carefully drop the battery down into the centre of the LED insert.

Try the mode button.

Part 2 — Stack & finish the lanternFrame, panels, and the rest of the stack

Fit the rlock base into the frame

Push it in until it's flush, with the wire gap aligned with the gap in the edge of the frame.

Decorate / select 4 side panels

Pick a blank panel, or a printed pattern, and decorate and customise it as much as you'd like.

Attach a spacer and top

Use the MagFit clips to attach the spacer (it looks like the base, but flat).

Attach a topper, fittings and skirt

Again with MagFit clips, attach the ring at the top — and a skirt on the bottom.

Insert the LED rlock module

Now the glue has cooled and dried, insert the module into the base and twist it to lock it in.
